Orange marmalade muffins are an old-fashioned, citrusy muffin thanks to the addition of orange marmalade and are topped with a sweet, streusel topping.

Orange Marmalade
What exactly is orange marmalade? Orange marmalade is a preserve that contains the rind and juice of the orange. Marmalades are usually made with citrus fruits, with orange being the most popular and have a stronger flavor than jelly or jam. Marmalades also differ from jams and jellies, as jams and jellies do not contain the rind of the fruit being used.
These orange marmalade muffins were adapted from an old-fashioned recipe that dates to the 1950’s. They get their citrusy taste thanks to the addition of the orange marmalade and fresh orange zest and have a sweet, streusel topping. They are an easy-to-make recipe and are even better when served with additional orange marmalade. Keep reading below to see how to make these muffins and for additional tips.

How to Make This Recipe
Orange marmalade muffins are an easy-to-make recipe and are great to make when you have a nearly empty jar of orange marmalade to use up.
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour
- Granulated sugar
- Salt
- Baking powder
- Unsalted butter
- Egg
- Orange zest
- Milk
- Orange marmalade
To make these orange marmalade muffins, a mixture of all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt and baking powder is sifted together. After the butter is melted, it is whisked together with the egg, orange zest and milk. The wet ingredients are folded into the dry ingredients and the orange marmalade is added in last. The batter is then scooped into a lined muffin tin. To make the streusel topping, butter, granulated sugar and all-purpose flour are combined until crumbly and then it’s evenly sprinkled on top of each muffin prior to baking. The muffins are baked at 375°F for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of each muffin comes out clean. Once cooled, the muffins are served with additional orange marmalade.

Tips for Orange Marmalade Muffins
- You can substitute jam or jelly for the marmalade; however, the orange flavor will not be as strong
