Hi, I’m Meredith, also known as The Timeless Baker
I’m a self-taught home baker and lover of old-fashioned and vintage recipes. Here, I love to connect with others through sharing recipes that are inspired by my Midwestern heritage that are classic and timeless.
Nothing beats the joy of baking and sharing a recipe that is special to me. While many of the recipes on this blog are from my family collections, I also develop recipes inspired by old-fashioned classics. I adapt recipes from the vintage cookbooks I have inherited (and even started collecting!) over the years. I love the challenge of adapting a vintage recipe to modern times.
Even though I’m a self-taught baker, I grew up baking from a young age and come from a large family full of bakers. My hobby of competition baking at the Iowa State Fair (which also happens to be one of the largest State Fair baking competitions in the nation) has also led me to learn how to fine-tune recipes and that details really do matter!
I’m also a big fan of the history of recipes and foods such as the how’s, when’s and why’s. You can find interesting information about these recipes here on this blog – the history of the recipe, old-fashioned ingredients or the definition of many vintage terms and so on.
I’d love to hear from you. Did you make a recipe from The Timeless Baker or do you remember a similar recipe from your past? Comment on a recipe or you can connect with me on Instagram @thetimelessbaker, Pinterest or through email.
Thanks for visiting and Happy Baking!
Meredith
