The 2021 Iowa State Fair proved to be my best year yet! Read below to hear about my exciting experiences in the food department competition in the return of the Iowa State Fair!
The Food Competition
The 2021 Iowa State Fair definitely did not disappoint! After returning from a brief hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic, the food competition was in full swing all 11 days of the fair.
As I mentioned in a previous post about the fair, the Iowa State Fair holds the largest food department competition in the nation. In case you didn’t catch my post about the food department competition at the Iowa State Fair, check out my post here.
This was my 4th year of competition and was my best year yet! I came home with 14 ribbons! My entries this year consisted of a few classic recipes from this blog, along with some new recipes too. I even tried some savory classes this year and ended up placing in both classes.
I saw some old friends, made some new ones and ate my way across the sights of the fair. I don’t know if it was the excitement of the competition, or the nostalgic sights of the fair – maybe it was a mix of both, but it felt so great to be back! I’m already looking forward to next year’s fair.
The Recipes
Four recipes that I have already featured on my blog received ribbons this year. Read below to see which recipes placed.
I will also be sharing a few modern and classic recipes in the next few months that also placed. Stay tuned throughout the year for these recipes!
Until next year, Iowa State Fair!
